Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh today felicitated presiding officers and distinguished delegates from across the country attending the 2nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference, at Lok Bhavan, Haryana.
The three-day conference, being hosted by the Haryana Legislative Assembly in Chandigarh from June 8 to 10, 2026, has brought together eminent parliamentary leaders and legislators from various states to deliberate on key legislative and governance issues and strengthen parliamentary cooperation.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of environmental conservation and sustainable development, all delegates travelled to Lok Bhavan using electric buses, reinforcing the commitment towards reducing carbon emissions and conserving natural resources.
The dignitaries felicitated by the Governor included Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla; Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Harvinder Kalyan; West Bengal Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rathindra Bose; Delhi Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vijender Gupta; Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan; Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Kuldeep Singh Pathania; Jammu & Kashmir Vidhan Sabha Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather along with Chairmen, Speakers, Deputy Chairmen and Deputy Speakers from various State Legislatures.
On the occasion, Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh and Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Shri Harvinder Kalyan planted saplings in the premises of Lok Bhavan, conveying a strong message of environmental stewardship and sustainable growth.
Among those present were First Lady of Haryana Mitra Ghosh, wife of the Haryana Chief Minister Suman Saini, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Mahipal Dhanda, Development and Panchayats Minister Shri Krishan Panwar, besides Chairmen, Speakers, Deputy Chairmen, Deputy Speakers, MLAs representing the five Legislatures of CPA India Region Zone-II.
